Take a look at the statistics: 73% of businesses in Hong Kong have experienced cyberattacks, which means nearly 3 out of every 4 companies!
According to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD), the number of businesses targeted by attacks reached an all-time high in 2023, with an 8-percentage point increase. Moreover, the overall preparedness of companies dropped from 53.3/100 to 47/100, marking the largest decline on record.
One might assume that only large organizations become victims of cybersecurity attacks, as the media tends to focus more on such incidents, like the cases of Cyberport and Hong Kong Post. However, there are numerous other cases that don’t receive the same level of attention, yet the damage can be severe.
Therefore, as emphasized by the Commissioner for Personal Data Privacy, Ms. Ada Chung Lai-ling, “It is crucial for all businesses, regardless of their size, to allocate sufficient resources to protect themselves against various types of cyberattacks.”
